Inger La Cour Andersen, Bio:
Ms. Andersen, born in Jerup, Denmark, has over 30 years of expertise in international development economics, environmental sustainability, strategy, and operations. She has spearheaded initiatives across a wide range of areas, including agriculture, environmental management, biodiversity conservation, climate change, infrastructure, energy, transport, water resources management, and hydro-diplomacy
Positions held in the past:
- 1992, UNDP’s Water and Environment Coordinator, Arab Region
- 1999 to 2014, Vice President, Middle East and North Africa; Vice President, Sustainable Development & Head of the CGIAR Fund Council, World Bank
- 2015 to 2019, Director General, International Union for Conservation of Nature
Other involvements include working with the United Nations on drought and desertification, beginning with the UN Sudano-Sahelian Office.
Education:
Ms. Andersen holds a Bachelor's from the London Metropolitan University North and a Master's in Development Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London
