PM Narendra Modi committed that the world's third-biggest emitter will zero out emission by 2070. India will increase its non-fossil fuel power capacity by the end of the decade & half of the country's electricity will come from renewable sources by 2030.
Though there has been progress made in flattening the curve of future emissions through both climate policies & falling clean energy costs; COP26 is bringing into light that the world's temperature would soar far beyond that limit to meet Paris Agreement goals of limiting warming to 1.5 *C or “well below” 2 *C by the end of this decade.
