'Pre-COP' Negotiators Met in Milan; Ahead of COP26 Next Month

The big debate remained around climate finance! Wealthy nations are still around $20bn short of the long-promised $100bn a year meant to help poorer countries cope with rising temperatures.

Promising Climate Pledges Before COP26; But Still Not Sufficient

Amidst increasing pressure ahead of the COP26, some progress has come through. The US has pledged to double US climate aid. G7 countries, China & South Korea have pledged to 'cut-back/ end' funding for coal power plants. Similar pledges on methane emissions have come through.

Energy Giant Total Sees Peak Oil Demand Before 2030

In its annual energy outlook ‘Total’ has forecasted that global oil consumption would start declining before the end of 2030. It added, demand could drop further, depending on how strongly policies & habits change. It sees natural gas continuing to act as a transition fuel.
