Italy to Clawback Profits from Renewables, to Sustain Energy Bills

Italy Govt. expects to raise almost $4 billion from clawback of profits from solar & clean power producers, to recycle into cushioning businesses and citizens from sky-high energy bills, this winter. The scheme impacts solar energy producers with a capacity exceeding 20KWs & some unsubsidised renewable energy plants (like hydroelectric plants) in operational since before January 2010, among others.

New US Federal Bill To Protect Activists Against Meritless Lawsuits

US Legislators established a procedure to dismiss and deter Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs), if they were found that the allegation amounts to First Amendment protected speech. The legislation's subcommittee highlighted the use of SLAPP by fossil fuel industry to silence environmental activists & non-profits who speak out against proposed fossil fuel pipelines.

Climate Activists Calling For Reparations Of Climate Damage

Young activists are organising for climate action protests, 6 weeks before the UN Climate Summit - COP27, where vulnerable countries will push for compensation for climate-related destruction to homes, infrastructure & livelihoods. Protests are planned in around 450 locations worldwide by youth movement 'Fridays for Future' & timed to coincide with global leaders meeting in New York, UN General Assembly, this week.
