The impact of coronavirus lockdowns on the energy industry, led carbon emissions to drop by 6% globally. Meanwhile, global demand for oil also took a dive as a result of the same and saw a significant 9.7% drop for oil consumption.
The European Commission's newly released legislation plan ‘Fit for 55’ has called for its 27 member states to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, from 1990 levels. By 2019, the EU had cut its emissions by 24% from the same 1990 levels.
