Its the last month of the year. And a good time to start reflecting on all that played out in the climate action this year. Quite a few highs and lows, if you think about it. 

This week, developments from India, USA and Europe. Notice the 'gradual but definite' transition of climate conversations/proposals/studies from all these years - becoming laws !

Trillion Dollar Opportunity in India's Green Cooling Solutions

A new World Bank analysis showed that use of less carbon-intensive tech in India’s cooling sector opens up an investment potential worth $1.6Trillion. Analyzing the ‘India Cooling Action Plan 2019’, if found that this investment in ‘construction, cold chains & refrigerants’ sectors would also create 3.7M jobs. (India’s Cooling Strategy aims at reducing national cooling demand by 25% by 2037-2038.)

2022 Could Be US’s Biggest Year on Climate Action

The US has had an extraordinary year of progress at the federal, state & local levels. The biggest of these was the $370 billion in new spending on an array of tax credits & incentives designed to encourage the development of renewable energy, electric vehicles, among others. European Commission Approves French Domestic Short-Flight Ban

As part of the country’s Climate Law, France wants to abolish flights between cities that are linked by a train journey of less than 2hr 30 mins. The EU Commission gave the go ahead for France to prevent flights between Paris Orly airport & Nantes, Lyon, and Bordeaux. (New high-speed rail lines are being planned across Europe)
