Electricity from water, adoption trend

Electricity generated from hydro-power has doubled (101%) between 1990 ( 2,190,906 GWh ) and 2021 ( 4,410,978 GWh ). During the same period, its share in the global electricity mix remained relatively constant - only moving between 18% (1990) and 15.47% (2021) - averaging about 17%. This indicates that the growth in addition of new hydro power globally is at the moment, in sync with the increasing generation of electricity from all sources.
